For April Fools Day I thought I would make a Berry Fool. Personally, I don’t like April Fool’s Day. I have had some mean jokes played on me. Not to say I don’t have a sense of humor, I do. But, humor can be funny or not by the timing. The worst joke I ever had played on me was when we were having a big day at the office. We had a big case going on. Trial was just around the corner. Depositions were behind schedule. It is always tense because no one wants to be deposed. The conference room was full of confrontational attorneys and hostile witnesses. Several of the support staff thought it was funny to call and say they were taking a personal day 15 minutes before the start of day. I am sure my blood pressure was off the chart. I guess I fell for it because I was so busy. Luckily just before I had a stroke I just happened to look out the window and saw them standing outside calling from their cell phones. I could see them all laughing. I laughed too when I saw that it was a joke, but I warned them they may be tortured at a later date. So I think Berry Fool is a much better way to celebrate, don’t you?
Berry Fool is about the easiest, simplest dessert you can have. Just a mix or swirl of fruit and whipped cream and you have dessert. You can add nuts, or crushed meringues, or serve with a cookie. It is rich, luxurious and pretty. I suggest you serve it up in your prettiest glass or bowl. It makes guests feel special.
When you get your berries home place them immediately in a single layer in pie plate on a piece of paper towel. Slip a plastic bag over the pie plate then place them in the refrigerator. This will buy you some time and keep them from deteriorating so quickly. Wash them just before you want to use them.
You can assemble the berry fool into glasses then place them in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve. Cover the glass in plastic wrap and a large berry on top keeps it from messing up your presentation.
And if by chance you play a joke on someone be very gentle with your jokes and pranks. For months every time I would say something they wanted to know if they were being pranked or was this payback for the time the scared me on deposition day.
Have some Berry Fool.

This sounds great! Thank you for linking with Tasty Tuesday!
Penny says
I agree some jokes are just not funny. But my favorite April Fool’s jokes were ones’ my brother and I played on my Dad when we were small. He always fell for them, or so we thought. He would go around all day with one blue sock and one black sock. Love your berry fool. Happy Day Madonna.
Ms. Lemon says
Okay, now that one is funny. Thanks for stopping by Penny.
Lorrie says
Mmm. This looks so good. Berries and cream are an unbeatable combo.
Ms. Lemon says
Thanks Lorrie. It is embarrassingly simple, but a great finish to a meal.
chris drago-gordon says
I like to use Maple Syrup instead of vanilla and sugar. It’s very tasty.
Ms. Lemon says
That sounds good too.

I’m with you on April Fool’s — such a lame day. Nothing lame about this fool, however! I love berry fools — easy to make, incredibly delish. Just a good, good dessert. Yours looks terrific — thanks.

Daniela says
Definitely I prefere Berry Fool to April’s Fool Day.
Looks and sounds delicious and effortless, perfect to celebrate spring.
Ms. Lemon says
Thank you for visiting Daniela. I like the idea or the simplicity of a quick dessert after a complicated meal. Well really a quick meal works for me too.
sharon@BeBetsy says
One should definitely celebrate April 1st with treats – you can then forget about all those pranks that people play because your tummy is so full you simply don’t care!! Well, we might care some but our sugar addiction would be in full thrust at that time.
Your berries and cream look refreshing and delicious – love the little strawberry plate that you served them on – makes it special. Thanks for sharing it on your gallery at #simplybebetsy and for the link back to BeBetsy – take care and watch those trouble makers…

Great minds think alike! I love that you and I have strawberries today and our dishes are even similar. 🙂
Ms. Lemon says
Yes, I agree. Loved your presentation.
Jenna says
A very wise person knows that simple is brilliant, not foolish! This is a perfect dessert! Sorry for the painful April 1 prank, awful at the time I am sure!
Ms. Lemon says
Thanks Jenna. It is funny now, but I still remember the panic. Not funny at all.
Chris @ The Café Sucré Farine says
What a pretty dessert and pretty presentation Madonna. I love that strawberry plate. And I love your idea for storing strawberries. I do that with deli meat and sausages and it makes a huge difference but I never thought of using it with berries, brilliant!!
Ms. Lemon says
I had not heard of the deli and sausage storage, but it really buys you a little time with the berries. I will say the berries don’t last too long around here, but sometimes if you need a little time…
Sarah says
I think I’ll go make myself one of these right now. Happy Berry Fool!
Ms. Lemon says
Thanks for stopping by Sarah. I hope you enjoy.
